WESTPORT, CT, November 9, 2023 –Joe Brown, resident of New York City, has been named to the Board of Directors of Experience Camps, an award-winning national nonprofit that transforms the lives of grieving children through summer camp programs and innovative, year-round initiatives.
As a board member, Joe will leverage his background and talent to support the organization’s programming, branding, and strategy with the goal to further the mission and transform the lives of grieving children.
One in five U.S. children will experience the death of someone close to them by age 18, and six million will mourn the death of a parent or sibling by age 18. Grieving children are at higher risk than their non-grieving peers for developmental disruptions, including relationship, academic, and career functioning; substance abuse; mental health challenges, including depression and suicide; and poverty.
Experience Camps programs connect grieving children to a community of peers who understand what they’re going through while normalizing the grief process and giving them hope for the future.

Joe is the founder and CEO of DearDoc, a platform that provides top doctors with a suite of technology and marketing tools, allowing them to run their practices more efficiently so they can give their full attention to their patients.
Since 2016, Joe has been volunteering as a counselor at Experience Camps in California, taking on more leadership roles every year including Unit Leader and College League Dean (team leader for a fun, camp-wide, color-wars-like competition). Says Joe, “The mission of Experience Camps is important to me because I lost my dad when I was in college, and handling that grief was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through in my life. I think what we are doing for Experience Camps is truly life-changing for these kids, and I’ve seen firsthand what camp has done for them. It’s truly a remarkable mission and organization.”
Joe is excited to bring in his skills for fundraising, as well as strategy and growth. “On top of that,” he says, “I love talking about and getting people excited about Experience Camps!”
Joe received his BA from the University of Arizona with a major in business marketing and a minor in global business.
