Details and options for camper travel to and from camp can be found in your program-specific Caregiver Handbook.
For all Methods of Travel
How and when do I advise Experience Camps about my camper’s travel plans?
All travel must be updated in your camper’s CampInTouch account by May 15th. Once you’ve confirmed your travel plans, login to your account, from the dashboard click “Forms and Documents” and complete the transportation form. Email forms@experiencecamps.org if you need help with your travel options or forms.
Do you offer travel stipends?
Transportation scholarships will be available to campers on a first come, first served basis. Caregivers must submit an application, which will be reviewed by the ExCamps HeadQuarters office.
How does my camper get to & from camp?
All campers are required to arrive at camp via a dedicated camper bus. Bus stop locations will be announced in the Spring. Campers can also return home from camp via bus, or caregivers are welcome to pick campers up directly from camp.
Buses to Camp
When and where do I drop off my camper at a bus stop?
What does my camper bring on the bus?
There is limited space available for luggage storage so please pack only what you need – aiming for one bag. Please avoid hard suitcases and use compressible bags where possible. Pack a nut-free snack or lunch and resealable drink for the bus.
Flying to Camp
How do I coordinate my camper flying to camp?
Air travel to camp is coordinated by each caregiver. The days & times for travel will be announced in the Spring. Ensure that you are choosing flights that arrive and depart on the correct days and at the correct times. We are unable to make special arrangements for campers who arrive or depart outside of the stated times. Once you’ve coordinated your travel, enter in the flight details into your CampInTouch account by May 15th.
If my camper is flying to and from camp, what time should they arrive and depart?
Does my child need to fly as an unaccompanied minor?
Please refer to your individual airlines policy around flying as an unaccompanied minor. Due to the everchanging guidelines around this airline policy, only campers required to fly as an unaccompanied minor per the airline will be assigned a chaperone at the airport. Please make sure you have pre-paid the unaccompanied minor fee and uploaded the receipt to your CampInTouch account once purchased.
Who do I list as the drop off and pick up contact person?
Please list “Samira Moosavi” as the temporary chaperone pick-up contact with the airline and give the address of the camp location your child is attending. Approximately one week prior to camp you will be given the name of the volunteer who will be the pick-up chaperone at the airport. You will need to call the airline at that time to change the name and contact information.
Who covers the cost for the flight and baggage?
Whenever possible, the cost of the flight and baggage cost is paid by the camper’s caregiver. Please make sure you have pre-paid for baggage as needed and have uploaded the receipt to your CampInTouch account once purchased. If you are concerned about your ability to afford the transportation cost, we encourage you to check locally with organizations, religious groups, or family for support. If needed, we do offer limited funds in our transportation scholarship. Applications for travel scholarships will be made available in the Spring.
What happens once my camper lands at the airport?
Chaperones will be present at the airport one hour prior to the scheduled bus departure time to receive the campers and escort them on the bus to camp. If a camper is traveling on their own and their flight arrives before this time, it is the responsibility of the camper to meet us at our designated meeting spot at the correct time. Families are alerted via text once the buses arrive at camp.
What about bringing snacks and cell phones?
Please pack a nut-free snack with your camper for their flight. If they have a cell phone, please make sure they also have the power cord. Once they arrive at camp, all cell phones will be stored, charged and returned before campers depart for their flights home.
I’m interested in sending my camper on the group flight from Fort Lauderdale to Georgia. Can you share more information?
ExCamps secures ~40-50 seats on one flight from FLL to ATL (including campers and several chaperones). These seats are first come first serve. The caregiver will pay for the individual ticket(s) and baggage. ExCamps holds these seats to try to get as many campers from the area to travel together. The link to book tickets will be made available in the Spring. Tickets must be purchased by May 15th.
