Activity:
-
Collect whatever paper you have laying around–old newspapers, construction paper (even if it’s scraps leftover from a previous project), or scrapbook paper. This project is perfect for upcycling new or scrap material.
-
Using the colors and patterns available to you, make a collage by tearing the paper into tiny pieces and creating a larger picture (see example below).
-
Apply liquid glue or Mod Podge with a paintbrush to the pieces to layer them together on whatever you use as a canvas (cardstock or a heavy paper works great if you don’t have canvas available!)
-
Your finished product could be an actual image, or something more abstract. You decide!
Tips:
-
The smaller the pieces, the easier it is to create a distinct image.
-
Get creative! Channel your inner Picasso and don’t be afraid to think outside the box with the ways that you utilize colors and patterns.
