Family Camp Staff FAQ

Who can be a Family Camp Volunteer?

Family Camp is an opportunity for current or former volunteers who have at least two years of experience with Experience Camps and are interested in taking on more responsibility in addition to a traditional volunteer role.

What is the role of a Family Camp Volunteer?

Volunteers are assigned to one family and act as their host at camp. As a Family Camp volunteer, you perform a key role in supporting and encouraging all family members to take part in all activities.

While the primary role of a volunteeris to be the key point of contact for their assigned family, they will also help lead activities and take on additional leadership responsibilities assigned by the Camp Director.

When do staff arrive for Family Camp?

Staff will arrive at camp at 9:00 a.m. on the first day of camp for a brief orientation and tour of camp. Families will arrive around 12:00 p.m. the same day. Staff will depart around 2:00 p.m. on the final day, after clean up is completed.

What are the living arrangements?

Volunteers and staff will not stay in a bunk with families. All staff will stay together in an assigned bunk.

Is there staff training?

All staff will participate in online training and in-person orientation the morning before family arrival.

Is there transportation provided to Camp?

You will need to provide your own transportation to camp. Reach out to familycamp@experiencecamps.org if you have additional questions.
