WESTPORT, CT – November 17, 2024 – We are thrilled and honored to report that GRIEF SUCKS, our digital platform for grieving teens, won the “Content Marketing Program of the Year” from the Women in Content Marketing Awards.
The mission of the Women in Content Marketing Awards (WICMAs) is to “recognize the outstanding work of inspiring and accomplished innovators, spotlighting specific achievements made by women and showcasing how they have positively impacted others—colleagues, clients, and the industry as a whole—through their leadership.”
The “Content Marketing Program of the Year” award recognizes GRIEF SUCKS as “an exceptional content marketing project or program executed by a woman-led team, celebrating excellence and innovation in strategy, execution, and impact.” GRIEF SUCKS, an initiative of the national nonprofit Experience Camps for grieving children, is a digital content platform that helps teens navigate their feelings and offers a place of belonging. It normalizes grief by featuring celebrities (including Andy Grammer, Wes Moore, and Will Reeve) talking about grief, teen reviews of grief-related pop-culture content, kids’ candid stories, irreverent videos, and more.
Says Michelle Cove, Director of Communications for Experience Camps, “Our team worked really hard on GRIEF SUCKS, to get the right balance of emotional support and engaging content, but we also knew it had to have the right vibe. And we did this by making sure grieving teens were involved in every single part of this process, from conception to execution. The platform feels authentic to our teen audience because they helped build it. That’s what I’m most proud of in winning this award.”
Adds Jesse Moss, Director of Marketing for Experience Camps, GRIEF SUCKS gives kids all over the world a chance to feel less alone in their grief and see themselves reflected in media at a time when the rest of the world so often turns their back on them. We share this honor with the teens who helped us build this platform. Grief truly does suck and hopefully with GRIEF SUCKS, it can suck just a little less.”
